Theories of solubilities of non-electrolytes

چکیده

A brief history of solubility theory is outlined, and the distinguishing features of modern solubility theory are discussed. It is shown how the perturba— tion theory—based terms in the expression for the Henrys law constant provide microscopic information on covitation and solvation. Results are given both for atomic and molecular systems. In the case of atomic systems, where no adjustable parameters are used, excellent agreement with experiment is found. In these systems we also probe in a fundamental way for the role of quantum effects and non— additive three—body forces on solubility. For molecular systems, in which the required pair potentials are generally unknown, a somewhat different approach is perhaps most useful. In particular we show how a molecular liquid state perturba— tion theory can be used to probe for the role of dipoles and quadrupoles on the thermodynamics on non—electrolyte solubilities in water. Finally, some of the difficulties that lie ahead in the field of solubility theory are mentioned.

Charting the known chemical space for non-aqueous lithium-air battery electrolyte solvents.

Li-air batteries are very promising candidates for powering future mobility, but finding a suitable electrolyte solvent for this technology turned out to be a major problem. We present a systematic computational investigation of the known chemical space for possible Li-air electrolyte solvents. It is shown that the problem of finding better Li-air electrolyte solvents is not only - as previousl...

Solubility Prediction of Anthracene in Non-Aqueous Solvent Mixtures Using Jouyban-Acree Model

A quanitative structure property relationship was proposed to calculate the binary interaction terms of the Jouyban-Acree model using solubility parameter, boiling point, vapour pressure and density of solvents. The applicability of the proposed method for reproducing solubility data of anthracene in binary solvents has been evaluated using 116 solubility data sets collected from the lite...

Solubility Prediction of Drugs in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Using Artificial Neural Network

The descriptors computed by HyperChem® software were employed to represent the solubility of 40 drug molecules in supercritical carbon dioxide using an artificial neural network with the architecture of 15-4-1. The accuracy of the proposed method was evaluated by computing average of absolute error (AE) of calculated and experimental logarithm of solubilities. The AE (±SD) of data sets was 0.4 ...

Estimating the Relationship between Serum Electrolytes and COVID-19: A systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Background and purpose: There are controversies on the association between electrolytes and Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and its severity. Studies on these issues may help in resolving ambiguities. The purpose of this study was to assess the association between electrolyte indices and being infected with COVID-19 and developing severe symptoms using a meta-analysis. Materials and method...

Finite difference method for sixth-order derivatives of differential equations in buckling of nanoplates due to coupled surface energy and non-local elasticity theories

In this article, finite difference method (FDM) is used to solve sixth-order derivatives of differential equations in buckling analysis of nanoplates due to coupled surface energy and non-local elasticity theories. The uniform temperature change is used to study thermal effect. The small scale and surface energy effects are added into the governing equations using Eringen’s non-local elasticity...
